An Alamo man is behind bars on a capital murder charge.

San Juan Police said they believe he pulled the trigger and killed an innocent San Juan man.

Police said an anonymous tip to their Crime Stoppers line led them to suspect  Roel Lopez's home in Alamo.

A judge gave Lopez a $1,000,000 bond for the capital murder charge and a $100,000 bond for a charge of tampering with evidence.

Police said their investigation revealed Lopez randomly selected Efren Escamilla's home, then robbed and killed him.

"It was a senseless murder," said San Juan Police Chief Juan Gonzalez.  "The victim was a good person from what we gathered from the investigation."

Gonzalez said his department worked day and night in the days following this murder.

He said the anonymous tipster to their Crime Stoppers line will get a cash reward.

It could be up to $10,000.

Earlier Friday, another tip led San Juan Police to a home on Pecan Street in Alamo.

Inside, police busted a large drug operation.

Police said they found over 200 grams of cocaine, three guns and a little over $7,000.

Three suspects were detained.

Police said they have now determined those men did not have anything to do with the murder of Efren Escamilla.

Police said it was the suspect who had some sort of connection to the home.

Those men are expected to be arraigned tomorrow.
