There are big changes soon to begin at Boggus Stadium in Harlingen.
Harlingen CISD has decided to replace the grass on the football field to artificial turf, as part of the 13th Street/Boggus Stadium redesign project.
Part of the plan also includes a new aquatic center, more parking and repurposing of Memorial Middle School into an administrative building.
Harlingen administrator says not only will Boggus Stadium have artificial turf, but a new track will also be installed by contractors and renovations will also be done to the visitor’s side of the stadium.
Projects inside the stadium should be complete by May, in time for graduation ceremonies.
Artificial turf will be a big change for Harlingen, as teams have played on the same grass since 1934.
And you can purchase a part of the Boggus history. The district is selling grass for $5 per square (16”x24”) or 150.00 per pallet (pallet contains 50 squares).
