Magic Valley Electric is planning a power outage this weekend to make major improvements to their delivery system.
Power will be temporarily disconnected from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday morning affecting approximately 4,000 homes and businesses in North Edinburg.
"Power outages are a necessity when it comes to specialized work that cannot be safely performed while electric lines are energized," said Danella Hughes, Communications Coordinator, Magic Valley Electric Co-op.
The scheduled power outage will enable MVEC to make system improvements resulting in safer, more reliable electric service.
"Out of consideration for our customers' safety and security, we have scheduled this outage at a time when electric usage is non-critical” added Hughes.
“Every effort will be made to minimize this disruption. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience any of our consumers may experience."
MVEC urges any consumer affected by the outage who has someone in their home on life-sustaining medical equipment or who would be endangered by a power outage to explore alternate arrangements that can be made in advance of the planned outage.
