Just 3 weeks on the job and already Joshua Gonzalez is rethinking his role as a protector of kids who are barely waist high.

"They're only about that big," Joshua points out with his crossing guard stop sign.

The trek across Alamo Road can be a long and dangerous one as crossing guard at Farias Elementary school in Alamo.

"On a scale from 1 to 10... I'll give it a ten," Joshua said about the danger.  "Cause last time a guy stopped right at the stop sign and then he laughed at me and kept on going."

The Speedzapper caught several drivers on radar above the reduced school zone speed limit of 20 miles per hour.

Joshua calls them all Scrooges!

"Slow down guys please for the holidays... It's Christmas," he said.

But if they are the Scrooges as he puts it, then a license-less driver with outstanding warrants must be up for the role of the Grinch.

Argelia Vela was busted on police radar at 42 mph.

That's more than double the limit.

It's considered reckless behavior in the eyes of the law.

"They can be hit," Officer Mark Perez said.  "They can be struck... Killed... People are just speeding along the way."

Argelia doesn't want her face on TV.

"You don't have any reason to be filming me," she said in Spanish.

That should be the least of her worries.

Officer Mark Perez learns she's driving with no license and to make matters worse has two outstanding warrants in the city.

Argelia is placed in handcuffs.

"Oh Chihuahuas," she said.

She's then hauled away under arrest.

Officer Perez knows there are others like her still on the roads.

"There are a lot of ignorant people... We'll get them 1 at a time," he said.

As for the crossing guard who once feared to come to work?

"I feel way better now."

Joshua says it's nice to know there's one less speeder on the road!

"You've been zapped."
