A community center in Los Indios will now house a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

According to U.S Border Patrol, their agent will help deter illegal activity in the community.

City leaders held a ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday morning.

Cameron County Precinct 4 Commissioner Daniel Sanchez said over the past year, border patrol involvement in Los Indios has been on the rise.

"We welcome this effort because they want to improve the quality of life for all of us," said Sanchez.  "They are here to listen to our concerns as well as educate and mentor our children towards success."
