A palm tree is blamed for a power failure that disrupted classes at the Texas State Technical College in Harlingen on Monday morning.

It all happened shortly before 10 a.m. Monday.

AEP Texas officials told Action 4 News that the power failure was caused by a palm tree prong falling on a wire.

Power was quickly restored but official said such incidents are common this time of the year with strong winds in the Rio Grande Valley.
