DPS traffic stops yield 1,365 pounds of marjiuana in Hidalgo County

More than 1,365 pounds of marijuana is off the the streets following two Tuesday morning traffic stops in Hidalgo County.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers confirmed the two unrelated busts.

State troopers said they happened along Expressway 83 in western Hidalgo County on Tuesday morning.

Investigators said one Toyota pickup truck and a Ford pickup truck were pulled over for different traffic violations.

Both trucks had nailed down tarps with bundles of marijuana underneath them.

Investigators said state troopers found 676 pounds of marijuana in the Ford pickup truck and 689 pounds of marijuana in the Toyota truck.

The names of the drivers have not been released at this time.
