Authorities have reopened three beaches that had been closed over the Columbus Day Holiday.
Cameron County officials reopened Boca Chica Beach as well as South Padre Island’s Beach Access 5 and Beach Access 6 on Tuesday morning.
The three beaches had been closed on Sunday and Monday due to high tides and dangerous rip currents.
Although the beaches have reopened, county officials are monitoring the beaches for dangerous debris washed ashore.
Cameron County Judge Carlos still asking the public to be careful on the beaches and be mindful of the waves, tides and currents, which are still strong.
“Although we have reopened the beaches, we ask the public to remain cautious as you enter the waters of the Gulf of Mexico because of possible rip currents and strong wave conditions that continue,” Cascos said in a statement. “I would also ask the public to be cautious upon driving along the beaches because this event may have pushed debris unto the shore.”
