It's been exactly one year today since Mexican gunmen reportedly attacked David and Tiffany Hartley on Falcon Lake.

Although David’s body has never been found, wife Tiffany continues her search for answers and justice.

Since the investigation began a year ago, there are still no answers as to where David Hartley or his remains could be.

Tiffany Hartley said she and her husband were jet skiing near the sunken ruins of Guerrero Viejo on the Mexican side of Falcon Lake.

The two were reportedly sight-seeing when gunmen allegedly with the Zetas drug cartel chased the couple down and boats and shot David in the head.

Tiffany escaped and made it safely to the American side of the lake where she called for help.

But to this day, David's remains have not been found.

While Tiffany and David's family are critical regarding the response from the American government on David's case, she says she will continue to speak out about border violence.

"There’s not one person along this border that has probably not been affected and I want them to know that I am doing the best I can to be their voice,” Hartley told Action 4 News.

Since the shooting, Tiffany has testified before congress to lobby for the federal government to secure the border.

During a recent visit to the Rio Grande Valley, Tiffany and David's mother Pamela Hartley visited Falcon Lake.

They told Action 4 News that they remain hopeful his remains will be found some day.

Since then, Tiffany has filed at least three lawsuits against the U.S. Justice Department in regards to the investigation of her husband's death.

She's even conducted speaking engagements across the country, including a recent appearance at the University of Texas at Brownsville.
