At least 12 people are injured following a Thursday afternoon rollover accident involving a truck filled with illegal immigrants.

It all happened off FM 755 and FM 490 in Starr County around 12:30 p.m Thursday.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers said it all started with a single-vehicle, rollover accident.

Investigators told Action 4 News that a tire blew out on a truck where 12 illegal immigrants were in the back.

The rollover accident left 12 people injured.

State troopers said five of the accident victims have broken bones while one of them was seriously injured and needed to be airlifted to a hospital.

All 12 injured people are believed to be illegal immigrants.

It's not clear if the driver fled the scene or is among the injured.
