The body of Army Sergeant Rodolfo Rodriguez Jr. arrived at McCreery Aviation in McAllen shortly after noon Saturday.
The Weslaco native was killed September 14th while serving in Afghanistan.
His wife and two young children met his flag-draped coffin at the airport Saturday.
Before Rodriguez’s remains were placed in a hearse, it appeared his wife made an attempt to run toward his coffin.
Family held her back.
The soldier’s body will now be taken to Guerra Funeral Home at 2602 N. Texas Boulevard in Weslaco.
A public viewing will be held there for him from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Church Services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Templo Ebenezer at 209 E. Sugarcane in Weslaco.
Burial will follow at the Rio Grande Valley State Veteran's cemetery in Mission.
