The remains of Weslaco native Sgt. Rodolfo "Rudy" Rodriguez will arrive Saturday afternoon at around 12:15 at McCreary Aviation in McAllen.

Family released the details of the arrival and funeral arrangements Friday during a press conference at Weslaco City Hall.

From the airport, Sgt. Rodriguez's casket will be transported to Guerra Funeral Home at 2602 N. Texas Boulevard in Weslaco.

A public viewing will be held Saturday from 4 pm until 9 pm, then again on Sunday from 9 am until 9 pm.

Church Services will be on Monday, from 10 at Templo de Ebenezer at 209 E. Sugarcane. Burial will follow at the Rio Grande Valley State Veteran's cemetery in Mission.

Sgt. Rodriguez was killed September 14 after insurgents attacked his unit with a land mine in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. He was serving his third tour of duty at war.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa and their two children.

An account has been set up for the family to help with expenses at First National Bank.
