17 injured, 100 evacuated in McAllen apartment complex fire

At least 17 people have been injured in a massive fire burning at an apartment complex at 1212 E. Dallas Ave in McAllen.
 
Over a hundred people were forced from their homes, after the blaze started on the second floor.
 
Fire officials say when they arrived at about 5:30am, they found residents jumping out of windows, one man even tossed his children out to people downstairs.

Investigators told Action 4 News that 17 people were transported to the hospital with minor to serious injuries.
 
A dozen people are unaccounted for.
 
Investigators say they are bringing in cadaver dogs to search for any missing people.

The number evacuated does not include pets.

A pet shelter is also being set-up to help animals affected by the blaze.

The American Red Cross told Action 4 News they will be providing hotels for the families affected.
