Authorities are investigating a home invasion in Mission where the suspect used a machete to cut the victim.
Mission police said it all happened off Holland Avenue and 2 Mile Line around 2 a.m. Thursday.
Investigators learned about the home invasion after being called to a local hospital about a man that had deep cuts on his face, head, arms and hands.
The victim told investigators that the suspect stormed his mobile home and started swinging at him with a machete cutting him repeatedly.
Mission Police Department Assistant Chief Martin Garza spoke to Action 4 News about the incident.
"There is no doubt that we have a crime scene at this residence,” Garza said. “There's blood throughout the residence. There's a couple of knives and a machete that has been found and according to the victim does not belong to him. We are going to continue the investigation. He is in stable condition and will be transported to mission pd where he will be providing a statement."
One neighbor told Action 4 News that she was up until midnight watching TV but didn't hear anything and didn't notice what happened until this morning.
Police said the victim didn't get a good look at the suspect since the home was dark but saw him run south of Holland Avenue after the attack.
It appears he did not take anything.
Anyone with information about the home invasion is asked to call Mission Crime Stoppers at (956) 581-TIPS.
