Authorities temporarily sealed off a an east Harlingen street after the SWAT team was deployed for a man reportedly barricaded inside a home.

It all happened at a home on the 2300 block of East Bowie Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday.

Police blocked off East Bowie Avenue between North 21st and North 25th Streets while the SWAT team was deployed.

Authorities said the incident ended peacefully with the man surrendering.

Family members told Action 4 News that the man is in his mid 20s and is an Iraq war veteran who had served three times overseas.

The man reportedly got in a fight with his younger brothers, who called police and left the home.

The younger brothers told police that their older brother had a gun.

The man was taken into custody where he’s expected to be evaluated at a local state hospital.

Neighbors were not allowed to enter or leave the street for about an hour and half.

Rudy Quilantan said he and his son went to see the Los Fresnos Falcons play in Calallen but were not allowed back in their home.

Another neighbor said she's seen police at the home before.

"This hasn't been the first time," the woman said. "Before then, cops have been in front of the house before."

Family members confirmed that police have been to the home before but the visits ended without incident.
