A Reynosa woman claims she's innocent but remains behind bars after authorities found more than 21 pounds of meth hidden inside her car.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrested 45-year-old San Juana Perales-Guajardo on federal drug charges on Monday.

The Reynosa woman drove up from Mexico at the Pharr International Bridge in a grey 1995 Nissan Altima.

Court records show that she appeared nervous and gave conflicting information about her ownership of the vehicle.

Customs officers reported finding eight packages with about 21.8 pounds of methamphetamines inside the rocker panels of her car during a secondary inspection.

Records show that the car had crossed the border multiple times over the past few months.

Perales-Guajardo claims she would let a man borrow the car and that she didn't know anything about drug being inside her car.

The Reynosa woman appeared before U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Dorina Ramos in McAllen on Monday morning.

Investigators reported that Perales-Guajardo is a Mexican national who lives in Reynosa.

Judge Ramos denied bond for Perales-Guajardo until a Thursday morning hearing.
