Arrest warrant issued for elderly landowner in San Benito tire fire

An arrest warrant has been issued for the property owner said to be at fault for a major tire fire near San Benito last week.

A state district court judge has signed an arrest warrant for landowner Bob Waldrep.

Waldrep is now facing a state jail felony illegal dumping charge.

Investigators told Action 4 News the man is the owner of the property where thousands of tires were dumped and caught on fire.

Waldrep has not made contact with authorities regarding the fire.

If convicted, the elderly landowner could face six months to two years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
