A 23-year-old man is behind bars after authorities found more than 118 pounds of marijuana in the gas tank of his SUV.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested Alberto Alonzo on federal drug charges on Sunday.

Alonzo drove up from Mexico at Brownsville’s B&M International Bridge in red 1994 Jeep Cherokee.

Customs officers sent Alonzo to secondary inspection where authorities found 118.86 pounds of marijuana hidden in the gas tank of his SUV.

The 23-year-old drug smuggling suspect appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Ronald Morgan in Brownsville on Tuesday morning.

Judge Morgan denied bond for Alonzo until a Friday morning hearing.
