A woman in her 30's is on the verge of losing all of her teeth.
This is all due to a condition that eats away at her teeth, but there's a solution and her family is hoping you can help.
Criselda Guerra is suffering from Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, known as GERD.
"People don't realize the effects you can have from GERD," said Guerra.
It has deteriorated her teeth over time.
Her doctor said her remaining teeth are hanging on by a thread and soon they'll need to be taken out.
Guerra's condition makes her gag when anything is near her tongue or palate, so veneers and dentures are out of the question.
Dr. Gary Schwarz of McAllen said he can conduct surgery on her and use a different method.
"We're going to go in and take out all of her teeth and replace them with 8 implants on top and 7 on the bottom and securing permanent teeth to those implants," said Dr. Schwarz.
But it's going to be costly.
A procedure like this costs over $70,000 dollars.
Dr. Schwarz, Criselda's dentist Rr. Rick Young and Nobel Bio Care have been able to reduce some of the costs, but even so, the Guerra's will have to come up with at least 40 thousand dollars.
The Guerra family has set up an account for donations and will also be selling raffle tickets for a rifle and selling barbeque plates to raise money for the surgery.
Donations can be made to Lone Star National Bank Account Number:
