A shootout between soldiers and gunmen in Reynosa ended with five deaths and several injuries, including several soldiers.
It happened just past noon at the Colonia Las Fuentes in the city’s westside.
In addition to the dead and wounded, two cars and two military units were damaged by gunfire.
The shootout brought traffic to a standstill for several hours on Avenida Mil Cumbres and Las Fuentes Boulevard.
Soldiers blocked off the area to establish a buffer zone.
In addition, businesses and a nearby hospital went on lockdown or were evacuated.
The gunfight ended just past 1 p.m. while the roads opened within several hours.
