Corpus rape suspect caught in Starr County

An alleged sex offender wanted by Nueces County Sheriff’s Department is captured in the Rio Grande Valley.

The Gulf Coast Violent Offender and Fugitive Task which includes the Starr County Sheriff’s Department arrested Ricardo Zamora at his brother’s home in Rio Grande City.

Action 4 News was told Zamora was surprised when federal agents and sheriff’s deputies executed the warrant for his arrest and slightly resisted.

Zamora is wanted for reportedly sexually abusing two young girls, ages 6 & 8, in Nueces County.

On Wednesday, Zamora was being held in the Starr County Jail awaiting extradition.

According to court documents, his bail is $150,000.

Nueces County is located two hours north of the Rio Grande Valley.
