It was fun while it lasted but KGBT-TV has become the latest media outlet to have its Google Plus profile suspended.
The Harlingen-based TV station has always been at the forefront of social media.
Over the years, KGBT has launched accounts on various platforms such as MySpace, YouTube, Twitter, Foursquare and Facebook.
Google launched its social networking platform at the beginning of July and according to mashable.com, it's already approached 18 million profiles.
Many social media experts wondered if Google Plus would one day be able to rival Facebook.
KGBT-TV created a Google Plus profile named "KGBT News" on Friday, July 15th.
The Harlingen-station was evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the new social media platform.
About 100 viewers, employees and others were able to get invites to join Google Plus through KGBT's account.
But early this morning, Google suspended the account citing that for the time being, Google Plus accounts are only limited to "real people" only.
The Google notice stated that the company would create the ability for businesses and other entities to create profiles later this year.
KGBT-TV will return to Google Plus once it enables business profiles but it's not alone in having its account suspended.
The Google Plus account for the on-line news outlet "Breaking News" was also suspended early Friday morning.
Just earlier this week, Google suspended profile for the Missouri-based KOMU-TV.
