Harlingen teen takes title of 'Miss Teen USA'

Danielle Doty of Harlingen is the new Miss Teen USA.

The pageant was held in the Bahamas on Saturday evening.

Doty, who graduated ninth in her class from Harlingen High School South, took home the crown.

The 18-year-old Harlingen native said she hopes to one day have her own non-profit organization named “Modest is hottest.”

Doty said the group will help young girls who are struggling with confidence and identity issues.

The Harlingen teen is expected to move to New York to live with Miss USA and Miss Universe.

The daughter of Kevin and Liz Doty, Danielle attended Treasure Hills Elementary, Coakley Middle School and Harlingen High School South.

She plans on attending Baylor University  to study Communications and Fashion Merchandising.

Some of her accomplishments include being ranked ninth in her senior class, Hawk Cheerleader, All American UCA cheerleader (9, 11, 12), PTSA volunteer, National Honor Society, Hawks for Christ (9-12).
