Baby dead after being left in backseat of car

A one-year-old girl is reportedly dead, and the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department is now investigating.

According to the department, the little girl was found passed out in the back seat of a car in front of a home between Three Mile Line and Five Mile Line on Western Avenue near Citrus City.

Sources tell Action 4 News a neighbor called 911 after seeing the girl in the backseat.

The little girl was taken to Mission hospital but did not survive.   

The sheriff's department is investigating.
