A Houston man is behind bars in the Rio Grande Valley after he allegedly tried to smuggle more than $1 million dollars worth of of cocaine into the United States.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested the 32-year man on federal drug charges Thursday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that the man drove up from Mexico at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge in a 2010 Mazda 6.
Customs officers allegedly found 13 packages with 33.2 pounds of cocaine in the rocker panels of the car.
Authorities believe that the drugs are worth about $1,065,262 dollars on the streets.
The man's court case information was not immediately available but investigators said the man is a United States citizen from Houston.
