A recount for a San Benito CISD school board seat has ended with this past weekend's election results being upheld.

After the recount, incumbent Joe G. Gonzalez had 1,366 votes while challenger June Aguilera had 1,382 ballots cast in her favor.

The votes will be official canvassed at 6:45 p.m. Monday.

Aguilera is expected to be sworn after the vote is canvassed. She is the youngest trustee ever to be elected onto the school board.

Gonzalez had put a down payment of $800 dollars for the recount.

Elections officials said Gonzalez will get some of it back, since it did not cost the full $800 to conduct the recount.
