Five gunmen killed in San Fernando battle

The Mexican Army killed five gunmen in a shooutout in San Fernando, Tamaulipas.

The National Defense Ministry (SEDENA) reported that the shootout happened Monday night, at around 11:15 p.m.

Soldiers patrolling the city came under fire from several armed men, leading to the gunfight.

Five men were killed. Soldier also seized the following items:

• Four assault rifles
• One handgun
• 24 ammo clips
• 634 cartridges
• One vehicle

The bodies of the gunmen, the weapons and the ammunition were handed over to prosecutors.
