A pregnant Brownsville woman is safe and back at home after her boyfriend allegedly kidnapped her on Tuesday morning.

Police rushed to the scene of an apparent kidnapping in the City of Brownsville.

Spokesman Eddie Garcia told Action 4 News that 19-year-old Joanna Herrera was taken from her home in the 700 block of Jackson Street by her ex-boyfriend, who was only identified as "Isaac."

Police said the suspect is approximately 19-years-old, kidnapped Joanna, and drove away in a black car around 11:23am Tuesday morning.

The incident happened less than a block away from the Brownsville Police Department, so the response was nearly immediate.

Action 4 News has been told that the suspect, Isaac,  was recently released from jail.

At 1:45p.m., Brownsville Police alerted Action 4 News Joanna had been found safe.

She was taken into the police department for questioning.

Police are not saying whether there's been an arrest in this case.

It’s unknown why the suspect reportedly kidnapped Joanna, but police are confirming she is pregnant with his child.
