It has been one week since the Rio Grande City, City Commission decided to suspend City Manger Juan Zuniga and Police Chief Dutch Piper with pay.

Both are accused, in a lawsuit, of sexually harassing a former city worker.

After three failed attempts to meet quorum the commission still has not appointed an acting city manager.

"I was hoping to have this taken care of at this point,” Mayor Ruben Villarreal said. “Hopefully by tomorrow we'll have this action taken care of and we can proceed. A city government like our needs a city administrator."

According to the Rio Grande City Charter, the acting city manager is only allowed to serve in that capacity for three months.

There has been another special meeting called for Thursday to address this issue.
