A Primera man is behind bars after he allegedly molested an 8-year-old girl who was staying at his home.
Primera police arrested 38-year-old Alvaro Herrera on an indecency with a child charge early Monday morning.
Investigators told Action 4 News that the molestation happened back in October and November.
But the 8-year-old girl made an outcry on April 3rd.
The girl was interviewed at Maggie’s House and an investigation lead to authorities issuing an arrest warrant for Herrera’s arrest.
Investigators said Herrera knew the girl through her mother and that the girl had been spending the night at his house when it all happened.
Police took Herrera into custody early Monday morning.
Herrera remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail where he’s expected to be arraigned on Tuesday morning.
Court records show that Herrera had a previous arrest for DWI in a cases where he served six months in jail and one year on probation.
