An Alamo man is warning others about a so-called parking lot predator who sold him shoddy goods.
It was a year ago, when Josue Barroso thought he got the deal of the century.
"Seemed like it's a bargain," he said.
Barroso purchased a complete 6-piece Paramax home theater system from a salesman who sold it out of his vehicle at a hardware store in McAllen.
"He was selling them for $400... But the retail price was $2100 or something," he said.
Barroso said he was actually duped into thinking it was a good deal.
"He said he has some speakers for sale in the back of his trunk and if I want to see them... We got a really price."
Barroso talked the salesman down to just $60 for the set.
He would later learn the speakers were worth even less.
"It's a scam dude... I heard about you."
A number of YouTube videos posted online sound the alarm on similar alleged scammers from San Jose, California to Clearwater, Florida.
All of them showed people peddling so-called high end Paramax speakers.
This past weekend, Barroso said he saw the same Paramax speakers for sale by a different guy in McAllen.
Barroso doesn't want to see people lose their hard earned cash.
"Hopefully all the Valley residents can be aware that there’s these guys out there trying to take advantage of their money," he said.
