Authorities have identified the suspect in a fatal DWI wreck on South Padre Island that left a 3-year-old girl dead.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers have charged 22-year-old Ismael Martinez with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.

State troopers allege that Martinez was drunk and behind the wheel of an SUV involved in a rollover accident on South Padre Island on Saturday afternoon.

Martinez allegedly hit a sand dune and rolled over.

State troopers reported that 3-year-old Natalia Raquel Alvarado while several people among the other nine passengers in the SUV were injured.

Martinez appeared before Cameron County Magistrate Judge Luis Saenz on Monday morning where he was issued $85,000 in bonds.

Court documents released on Monday afternoon show that Martinez had drank a 12-pack of Natural Light earlier in the day and then one Bud Light right before leaving Beach Access 5.

Martinez allegedly told state troopers that he did not remember what happened when he lost control of the SUV.

The court records show that Martinez took a breathalyzer test where he registered a 0.09 blood alcohol level. Under Texas state law, the legal limit is a 0.08 blood alcohol limit.

Other documents show that Martinez has a previous criminal history that included serving three months in jail for a Brownsville burglary of a motor vehicle case back filed in October 2006.
