Tears can only express the pain friends and family members of a Weslaco women, are feeling as a terrible accident takes her life.

Late Friday afternoon, neighbor Alfredo Raga witnessed the horrific accident.

"I helped the guys get out of the truck and the woman also, I helped her, I went to give her some aid, but she was dead" said Alfredo.

Weslaco police told Action 4 News that a teenage driver in a blue Dodge Pickup, ran a stop sign on Republic street and smashed his truck into a silver Toyota, killing the woman inside.

According to Raga, the intersection on Republic street is always busy with school students driving during the rush hour.

He said this is not the first time something like this has happened.

"It's very sad about these accidents, every year about three or four people die as a consequence" said Alfredo.

He wants to see Weslaco authorities do more to slow traffic down.

Raga said they need more stop lights and stop signs, he even said it would be a good idea to put in speed bumps.

The driver of the pickup truck only suffered minor injuries.

He is facing charges.
