Former Hidalgo County District Clerk Omar Guerrero is back in the spotlight.

McAllen police arrested Guerrero on a harassment charge on Tuesday night.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Guerrero is accused of harassing and threatening a man via telephone.

The calls allegedly took place back in November 2010.

Guerrero appeared before a McAllen municipal judge on Wednesday morning where he was issued a $1,000 dollar bond.

The former Hidalgo County District Clerk is no stranger to controversy.

He had once been arrested for DWI and even once fled to Mexico to escape child sex abuse charges.

Mission police had arrested Guerrero back in May 2010 in another harassment case where he allegedly sent threatening text messages to a woman there.
