A cold front will sweep into Deep South Texas Saturday morning and through the Lower Valley by afternoon.
It looks like there's a 40% chance for showers and even a few rumbles of thunder with the Cold Front.
We may see a few showers after midnight as the front approaches, but the main action will occur Saturday along and just ahead of the Front.
Even though we need the rain, most of the showers and thunderstorms will be short lived, with the bulk of the rain offshore.
As the front approaches winds will be breezy out of the southeast 15-20mph, gusting to 30mph.
By late afternoon-early evening, winds will have shifted toward the northwest, allowing temperatures to fall into the mid 60’s.
Temperatures are expected to fall into the upper 40’s and 50’s across the region Saturday night.
While there will be a few showers, it won’t be enough to end our drought.
There is still a Burn Ban for Cameron, Hidalgo and Starr County.
Dry conditions and strong winds could easily spark up or spread a fire.
Long range forecast suggest above normal temperatures and continued drought through the spring months.
