Two shootouts, blockades reported in Matamoros

Authorities are investigating reports of two shootouts and blockades south of the border in Matamoros.

Residents used the social networking website Twitter to report shootouts and blockades throughout the city.

Action 4 News spoke to Matamoros police who confirmed they received reports of two shootouts.

Authorities said one the shootouts took place near a Chedraui supermarket off Avenida del Niño.

The other shootout took place off the Sendero Nacional.

Investigators could not confirm if there was anybody wounded or killed.

Residents reported numerous blockades on major roads throughout the city:

• Avenida Manuel Cavazos Lerma y Calle Sexta
• Calle Sexta y Diagonal Cuahtemoc
• Calle Siete y Gonzalez
• Calle Primera y Lauro Villar
• Calle Primera y Bravo
• Carretera Reynosa-Matamoros
