A Brownsville man is behind bars after he allegedly tried to smuggle $600,000 dollars worth of heroin into the United States.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested the 18-year-old suspect on federal drug charges Tuesday.
The man drove up from Mexico at Brownsville’s Gateway International Bridge in a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier.
Customs officers sent his car to secondary inspection where they allegedly found nine bundles with six pounds of heroin in his car.
Authorities estimate that the drugs are worth $600,000 dollars on the streets.
