It's the one event Obed Urdiales looks forward to all year.
He and his wife own a book and soda shop off of Elizabeth Street in downtown Brownsville.
During the Charro Days Parade, people stop by his shop to get a cold drink or some ice cream.
Obed said, “it’s not a big problem for us”, he said he’s used to it and is happy to see everyone’s smiling faces.
Some in downtown Browsnville have seen a 50 percent increase in business over the past 3 days.
Juanita Salazar said her shop has never seen this amount of business, expect during the Christmas season.
She said a lot of people walk in to buy traditional Charro Day’s hats and flags.
If they like what they see, they typically end up buying other items.
While Salazar says the violence in Mexico has kept some of her regular customers away, she along with Obed said, this year's event has brought in some new customers.
