A Brownsville father is facing criminal charges after his 1-year-old daughter was found wandering the parking lot of a Peter Piper Pizza alone.

Brownsville police arrested 23-year-old David Garcia on a abandoning/endangerment a child charge around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that two people spotted a 1-year-old girl walking in the parking of the Peter Piper Pizza off Central Boulevard.

One man told police he bought clothes for the girl because she didn’t have any shoes, was dirty and had torn clothing.

Police found Garcia inside the restaurant where he said he hadn’t even realized she was gone.

Garcia appeared before a Brownsville municipal judge on Wednesday morning where he was issued a $5,000 dollar bond.

Police said Child Protective Services has been notified about the incident.
