U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has vowed that the killers of an federal agent will be found and brought to justice.

Napolitano spoke at the funeral of U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) Jaime Zapata at the Brownsville Events Center on Tuesday morning.

Zapata was killed in the line of duty in San Luis Potosi, Mexico last week. Fellow ICE agent Victor Avila was wounded but survived the attack.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified but Napolitano vowed at Zapata's funeral that they would be found and prosecuted.

Napolitano delivered a letter from President Barak Obama to Zapata's family.

The DHS secretary said the attack on Zapata and Avila was "brazen" and without provocation or warning.

Napolitano said American officials stand by their Mexican counterparts fighting the drug war and would not relent or flinch.

"We must carry forward agent Zapata's work," Napolitano said.
