Although the majority of the wintry mix has long since moved out of the Rio Grande Valley, dangerous conditions remain through Friday and early Saturday morning.

A layer of ice was covering  much of South Texas Friday morning.

Clear skies are expected to give way to warmer temperatures above the freezing mark Friday afternoon, only to fall back to below freezing overnight.

A Winter Storm Warning and Wind Chill Warning expire at noon.

But the National Weather Service has issued a Hard Freeze Warning through 9 a.m. Saturday.

Ice accumulations have reached close to one inch in the lower valley and less further inland.
