A San Perlita man is reported dead and two others injured in a one vehicle accident in Port Mansfield.

Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence said authorities responded to the accident just after 8pm Thursday near what’s called the 5 mile bridge right outside of Port Mansfield.

According to emergency management reports, the driver lost control on the icy bridge as he was travelling towards Port Mansfield.

There were three people in the vehicle at the time of the accident, two of them were ejected from the car.

The identity of the victims has not been released at this time, but DPS Trooper Johnny Hernandez confirmed that the 53-year-old man is from San Perlita.

The two surviving victims are said to have critical injuries.

So far, authorities say they responded to more than 10 weather related accidents Thursday evening.
