The Pharr Boys & Girls Club was under a temporary lockdown following a shooting at a nearby park.
Pharr police told Action 4 News that it all happened at a park near the corner of North Cypress Street and East Clark Avenue late Monday afternoon.
Sgt. Santiago Solis said a suspect is behind bars.
A motive is not clear but Solis said the alleged victim is being treated for a gunshot wound at McAllen Medical Center.
Boys & Girls Club Director Freddy Mata told Action 4 News that their building is under lockdown for the safety of the children.
Mata said the incident happened near their building.
Nobody inside the Boys & Girls Club heard the shots fired but they did hear sirens prompting a lockdown.
Mata said they immediately and voluntarily went under lockdown.
Children and staff at the Boys & Girls Club are safe and waited for police to give an "all-clear" signal.
