Mission area homeowner shot in attempted home invasion

Authorities are looking for three men in a brown pickup truck after home of them allegedly shot a homeowner during an attempted home invasion.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office reported it all happened off Inspiration Road and 8 Mile Line around 8:22 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the man and his family were inside their home when they heard voices outside.

The 34-year-old man went to investigated and found three men in their backyard.

The three men demanded money and shot him some time during the incident.

The family told deputies that the three men tried to kick in their door but were unsuccessful.

The three men fled the scene in a brown pickup truck and are now facing aggravated robbery charges.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the 34-year-old victim was rushed to a hospital where he's in stable condition and expected to recover.
