Harlingen police report a man is now charged in a hit and run accident that nearly killed a Harlingen teen.

They report they served an arrest warrant to Hector Lopez Tuesday on the felony offense of accident involving injury.

Police say the 22-year-old  was arraigned Tuesday and bonded out of jail late Tuesday night.

His bond was set at $10,000.

Police believe he was involved in a hit and run at the intersection of Morgan Boulevard and Chaparral Road on December 19th.

Thirteen-year-old Oscar Resendez, Jr. was reportedly walking to a friend's home when he was struck.

The teen continues to recover in a San Antonio hospital.

His injuries were so severe his spleen and part of his liver had to be removed.

His kidneys and lungs were also damaged, and the teen required several blood transfusions.
