Funeral arrangements in the death of a Zapata soldiers killed in Afghanistan were announced Friday morning.
Daniel Gonzalez, the director of the Rose Garden Funeral Home in Zapata, said the body of Army PFC. Ira B. Laningham will arrive in at the McAllen-Miller Airport Saturday at 1:08 p.m.
From there he will be transported to the funeral home in Zapata for the visitation.
That will take place Monday from 3 to 9 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., and on Tuesday from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
A funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Zapata.
Immediately following the mass, the soldier’s body will be taken to the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, where he will be buried with full military honors.
