Brownsville Police are releasing more details on a man’s body found floating in the Rio Grande near UTB baseball field late Thursday afternoon, the first body found floating in 2011.
They said the man, which appeared to be in his mid 20’s to early 30’s, was wearing a Nike logo white and red beanie and blue jeans.
He was approximately between five foot and seven inches to five foot and ten inches, and had coin with red and blue on opposite ends.
Police said they also found a gold colored pendant and several music CD’s of Mexican groups in the back pocket of his jeans.
On Thursday, Brownsville Fire Chief Lenny Perez told Action 4 News they had trouble recovering the body, which ended up near the American side of the Rio Grande.
After about an hour on the water, they were able to bring him to shore.
They said the man’s face was in an advanced state of decomposition, but his body showed no visible wounds or injuries.
Brownsville Police opened up an investigation to find the man’s identity and how he ended up in the river.
