Two women are in federal custody for trying to sneak in 18 pounds of cocaine hidden under their clothing into the United States.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Pharr-Reynosa international bridge arrested two 20-year-old women on January 7.
The driver of 2000 Chevy Impala Sedan is a woman from Mission, while the passenger said she was from Reynosa.
After a secondary inspection, officers found three packages of a white powder hidden under the driver’s clothing and strapped to her thighs.
They also found four packages of alleged cocaine under the passenger’s clothing, strapped to her thighs.
The estimated value of the cocaine is $572,843.
The car and drugs were seized. The two women were turned over to ICE and are expected to face drug trafficking charges.
