A Brownsville shoplifting suspect is receiving medical attention after injuring himself during a foot chase.

Brownsville police arrested the suspect at the JCPenney store at Sunrise Mall on Friday afternoon.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the suspect complained about chest pains and paramedics arrived in ambulance.

Police said the suspect bolted right when paramedics were going to stick him with a needle.

The shoplifting suspect allegedly popped a vein while running away.

The man is receiving medical attention but is now facing evading arrest charges on top of theft charges.

His name is not expected to be released until he has been arraigned.
