According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office, the alleged kidnapping attempt happened right outside the victim's home on the 8900 block of Doffin Road north of Mission on Monday night.
Deputies said the alleged victim Randall Jones was outside getting something from his van when he says a vehicle pulled up behind him.
Jones told deputies that three men got out and one of them grabbed his arm and told him they were going to take him.
He says he was then pushed to the ground and struck by a gun.
But that's when jones says he pulled out his own gun and fired six rounds towards the men.
He told deputies that he saw one man go down but the two others put him a truck and drove off.
Later that night, the sheriff's office received a call from Mission Regional Medical Center about a man being dropped off by a grey pickup truck with two gun shot wounds.
The sheriff's office reports that man is under guard while deputies investigate he is connected to the reported attempted kidnapping.
